Currently, only family members and his attorney are allowed to see him. Miller was there to show her support for Josh and to raise awareness for his case. ” . . . I’m here to demonstrate not only my personal support . . . for his courageous stance, but also the need for a federal shield law to make sure that there can’t be an end-run around state laws as there seems to be have been in this case. I’m here to express my solidarity as a fellow journalist with him and for all people who believe in a free and independent, uncoerced and uncoercible press.”* Josh would have normally been protected from government coercion by California state shield laws. The prosecutors argue, quite ludicrously, that the damage *supposedly* done to the cop car during the demo makes it a federal matter.
