Anyone still alive on LJ?: quietirony — LiveJournal
Hey, So I know keep another blog -- soon to become a videoblog --
[http://thisrevolution.blogspot.com/](http://thisrevolution.blogspot.com/)
so check that out if you get a chance. Anyhow, I wanted to log something that didn't belong on This Revolution -- so I decided to stash it here... it's a rather sordid tale when you think about it.
It was a couple of weeks ago when I first met her. It had been a good day, school had just started and it felt good to be back and I was in a bit of euphoria from the intellectual stimulation. I walked into Safeway, and a few feet in front of the entrance stood this girl, Emilee, she asked "Would you like to fill out a survey." How could I refuse, might as well fill out some quick little marketting survey and help the poor girl pay her rent. Well, the questionaire really didn't much pertain to me, and I quickly realized that Emilee wasn't going to get paid unless I invested the money I don't have in her company. As that wasn't an option, I checked no on the box that asked if I'd like a consultation. She was cute, but I didn't want to waste her time.
We talked a bit, discovered that we both went to UCSB, both worked at Banana Republic at some point. She told me she'd call me. I smiled, and told her I was looking forward to it. I did my shopping and mostly forgot about the encounter.
A few days later, on my way to work, my phone rings from a (650) number. I'm not sure who it is, and I say, "hello". "You have an (805) number, I have an (805) number. " is her response. "Emilee?" I ask, suddenly remembering how she had told me she went to UCSB. She told me she wanted to set up an appointment for a financial consulation. I told her I didn't have money to invest but would totally be down to hear her presentation, thinking she probably got paid some sort of base-rate per appointment.
She gives her presentation a few days later, we mostly talk about music, the half-hour presentation turns into 2 and a half hours and a stroll to the nearest coffee shop. We agree to hang out soon. I get home, and my roommate tells me she was flirting with me. I thought I had noticed as well, but had written it off to wishful thinking.
The next day she calls and asks me to come check out a band at Bottom of the Hill, they were apparently roommates with one of her clients. She calls me before she picks me up and mentions that her friend Zach is coming. We go to the show, have a good time and head to Sparky's to get food after the show. Zach heads home on his own.
A couple days later I meet up with Emilee and Zach at a party in the Marina. The party is lame and we all depart. Again, Emilee and I head off in her car with plans to get coffee. Zach decides he's heading home. Emilee decides she should call it a night and drops me off at her house.
And that basically brings me up to today. Oh wait, how could I forget. I must also mention that Emilee didn't get paid for giving consultations, she only got paid a portion out of investments and wasn't making nearly as much as she liked. I had taken it upon myself to coax Emilee into finding another job, the job just didn't seem to fit her, but I digress.
Anyhow, tonight, I call Emilee up and she seems highly stressed. She tells me she just broke up with Zach. Um... this one I totally DID NOT see. I'm not even sure they hugged when they said goodbye. The certainly didn't kiss, and why was Zach just heading home and going to sleep when his girlfriend's taking off with a new friend of hers. Nothing happened. But still Zach must be thinking there's something going on between us. Not that I didn't (don't?) want there to be, but I had no idea they were together.
Why did they break up? Because he didn't support her quitting her job. I wanted her to quit her job because it wasn't good for her. I didn't know she wasn't single, and I didn't want to break them up.
Oye, how could I become anything but a filmmaker when my life reads like a dime-store paperback.
See you on my other blog...
