A random musing on how we as humans think...: quietirony — LiveJournal

A few days ago, I found a piece of paper in my wallet. Taken from promotional yellow stationary for a company in Burlingame, CA; "Anchors Away -- (650)579-2776" was scrawled across the center of the small square paper. I had no idea where this paper could possibly have come from. The name of the business seemed to be the same as a pirate shop in the Mission that Elaine and I stumbled onto, but I was pretty sure the girl at the counter that I talked to about the store hadn't given me anything, besides it wouldn't be a 650 area code, and why would they have stationary from a copy-center in Burlingame? I asked Elaine about it, and she also remembered "Anchors Away" being the name of the pirate shop, but again, I was sure it wasn't from there. Strange. As I was straightening up some papers just now, I again came across this enigmatic piece of paper and decided to further investigate the matter. Calling the number -- I was greeted by, "Anchors Away Auto Body and Detailing, How can I help you?" Suddenly, I was able to remember precisely where I was when I recieved the note and why I had obtained it. When I took my car in for servicing about 3 months ago, I had complained that my A/C was pumping out an enormous amount of dirt (a result of a little too much late-night desert driving ;-)) and had asked if they could clean it out. After servicing my car, they informed me that the best way to solve my problem with the dirty A/C would be to get the undercarriage steam-cleaned; they gave me the number for a detailling place near the dealership (in Burlingame): you guessed it, "Anchors Away." What's funny is that I can totally remember the entire incident after being informed of the full-name of "Anchors Away." It's funny how prior to that I couldn't remember anything and had no recollection how the number had found its way into my wallet. Thought-process. It's funny.
