Author Gregory David Roberts, a very talented and gifted author who spent most of his life on the run and in and out of some of the harshest prisons in the world put it this way. ” A lot of men in prison are not bad men, just sad men.” My vote is for compassion and forgiveness. Roberts had all his writings destroyed by prison guards while he was beaten and tortured, yet he survived, served his time and told his story. Every prisoner should tell their stories. Without prisoners we wouldn’t need Amnesty International, would we now?

Usually we put people behind bars in order to punish them for a crime committed, and not to empower them to express themselves freely. So I cannot endorse the idea of Prisonblog.net. Even in cases like yours, where you were apparently stripped wrongfully of your rights (and I say that without knowing all the details about your case and giving you the benefit of the doubt), which seems in the great scheme of things to happen only to a very small percentage of cases. Looking at the big picture in your situation you even had the final laughter, since it came out to be a positive burst for your idea and cause. So I vote for expressing yourself while not incarcerated and to be cutoff the world scene while behind bars. Thus we will avoid wannabe blockers, journalists and artists to commit a crime in order to become famous, without the hardship going down their path of fortune while functioning in society. No handouts for criminals, is my motto and I am sticking to it. Cheers…

First off, you’re not a journalist. A journalist reports news via television, radio, newspapers, and magazines. Blogging is a hobby. Let’s not get those two confused. You most certainly should be incarcerated for withholding information from authorities. There was no just cause preventing you from doing so, you were simply rebeling. You, along with many others, are the reason our generation is frowned upon by so many. You make every attempt to do the opposite of what is correct, set fourth by our government. Now, I’m not a hoo-rah patriot who believes that I am somehow superior to others because of the geographical teriotory in which I reside. F*ck patriotism. At the same time, what you did prevented our legal system from determining weather or not criminal actions had taken place that day. By having that tape and not releasing it to authorities, you are nothing more than an accessory to what had taken place that day. To you and all those a part of this generation who believe in disrupting the sociological system that has been established, get a life. You merely belong to a large group of young activists protesting against everything in the world that you don’t like without just cause. And as for the interview, way to look like a jackass on national television.

Mike, this is the kind of name calling I don’t tolerate in an elementary school classroom. It discourages dialogue and says loads about you and nothing about the person you are “attacking”. Do you remember the old saying, “I’m the ball and you’re the glue, everything you say bounces off of me and sticks to you,”? Well, it’s true in a much larger sense than we realized when we were kids.
